Laser used in lab:
KrF excimer pulsed laser, operating at 248nm wavelength (ultraviolet).
Turning ON the laser:
1. Switch on the Main Power.
2. Switch 'MAINS' to ON.
3. Key switch to ON.
4. Wait for 8 minutes for the laser to warm up.
Turning OFF the laser.
1. Key switch to OFF.
2. 'MAINS' switched to OFF.
3. Main Power switched off.
Parameters to adjust:
1. Frequency of pulse.
2. hv of pulse
Fully filled laser will operate at about 300mJ.
When performing PLD, chamber must be void of atmosphere. Pressure set to about 10E-6 Torrs. Temperature of substrate should be set to 650 Celcius.
Note: Remember to switch on chiller for the pumps behind the lab.

Dr Teo Kie Leong called me today for a meeting with him and Seng Ghee. Went over, then we walked over to the laser lab to talk to Yingzhi. After a lot of talk, finalized that I will:
1. deposit ZnO doped with cobalt on saphire substrate using PLD (Pulse Laser Deposition)
2. Run VSM tests on it
3. Run PL tests on it
All to be done before CA3. Which I personally think I'm screwed.
Will suggest that I take tests to do PLD, VSM and PL by myself. I can't stand just watching and doing nothing. I am learning nothing.

Just found out that the laser has been refilled and is operational again. Bumped into Yingzhi on the way back from class, and she told me she was going to do some testings on substrates. So I followed her to the lab. Showed me how to clean the chamber. That's all for today. Asked me to remind Seng Ghee to get some alumina substrates for me to test on.
